Harry Potter, the Duke of Bridgerton and other actors who were in and around Hogwarts

The magic of Harry Potter launched a whole generation of budding talent (all strictly Brit, as the writer wanted it to be). But not only Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron) have left their mark. Some, like Robert Pattinson, have even smashed all of them into franchises: in his case, it starts from Twilight to get to the highly anticipated The Batman.

Adult performers are given acting chances hitherto precluded. Someone – see Gary Oldman / Sirius Black – eventually won an Academy Award. And someone else has migrated to other iconic serial roles (not that she needed them, mind you), like Maggie Smith / Minerva McGonagall, now matriarch of Downton Abbey.

The doors of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry born from the imagination and the pen of JK Rowling (published in Italy by Salani and in an audio book version by Audible) have opened wide to offer two decades of enchantment on the big screen. And in fact, while today the #20YearsOfMovieMagic with a year of epic celebrations commemorating the first film in theaters, The philosopher’s Stone, it’s time for everyone – even Muggles – to discover some fascinating behind the scenes.

One of these concerns the list of (then) perfect strangers who participated in the films and who now, seeing them next to Harry and associates, make them jump on the sofa. Surely Regé-Jean Page, Duke of Bridgerton, is one of those appearances that today, in the film marathon (on Sky, Amazon Prime Video and Italia 1) does not go unnoticed. Well, to be picky it is a very fast appearance The Deathly Hallows Part 1, to the point that his character doesn’t even have a name. Very elegant, in a black suit, he is one of the wedding guests – quite lively – between Ron’s brother, Bill (played by Domhnall Gleeson, another to whom the saga has brought luck), and his Fleur (Clemence Poesy), who fans met during the Three Wizards Tournament. Regè-Jean Page, however, at the time, did not meet one of the future colleagues in Bridgerton, Freddie Stroma, who in the Regency saga plays Prince Frederick of Prussia while among the wizards is the Quidditch champion Cormac McLaggen, part of the exclusive Professor Slughorn’s club of stars.
