Harvey Weinstein taken to hospital after “alarming blood test”, says lawyer

Harvey Weinstein was taken to hospital on Monday for treatment following an “alarming blood test” that required immediate medical attention. According to his lawyer, he must remain in the hospital until his condition stabilizes.

Lawyers for the movie mogul, convicted of sexual harassment, had previously stated that he faces health problems. He was rushed to the hospital from New York’s Rikers Island prison on September 8 to undergo heart surgery.

A jury found Harvey Weinstein, 72, guilty of sexually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006 and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013. They are among more than 80 women who have accused him of sexual misconduct.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the New York case and 16 years in prison for a separate case in California.
