“Have a sip of coffee first” – Lagarde's delightful reaction to a question about a possible return of Trump

THE Christine Lagarde proved once again that he has a good sense of humor and thus faced a journalist's question about the elections in USA and his eventual return Donald Trump in the White House.

The president of the European Central Bank watched first-hand the presidency of Donald Trump in Washington, when he was at the helm International Monetary Fundand maybe that's why he chose this way to answer the relevant question.

In her interview with Bloomberg from Davos, as part of this year's World Economic Forum, the president of the ECB wanted to warn about the dangers “hidden” by the possibility of Donald Trump's election to the US presidency and his return to the White House.

Bloomberg Television's Francine Laqua asked the ECB president what she thought of the US presidential election. Then Christine Lagarde raised her mug and said, “Yes, let me have a sip of coffee first.”

Although she noted that it is the decision of the American people to choose their country's leader, Christine Lagarde explained the difficulties which the politicians will face.

“But obviously all of us are concerned because the United States is the largest economy, the largest military power in the world and has been a beacon of democracy, with all its good and bad points,” the ECB president noted, adding that “we have to be extremely cautious and wait – just like we do with inflation.”

At the same time, Christine Lagarde underlined that all scenarios should be studied and that Europe should be strong, not to expect that it can be left to other “friends”, because this could change.
