Today, the first reviews of the new Apple Mac Studio PC appeared on the Web. And now we can put together a very concrete picture of what happened this time with the Cupertino giant.

Of course, it’s impossible to briefly retell large reviews, so it’s worth going through the most basic points thesis.
The Verge author took Mac Studio and gave it to a number of site employees who can actually boot such a powerful PC to try it out. As expected, Mac Studio turned out to be incredibly powerful in all possible scenarios, but here it is better to wait for some specific tests.

But the noise level is worth noting. It is minimal. More precisely, the author says that at least somehow the PC was heard only in games, but even under maximum load it remains silent, and this is another victory for Apple.

But the performance of the GPU is still worth evaluating separately. Recall that Apple itself said that the M1 Ultra received a graphics core that is comparable to the GeForce RTX 3090 with 200 W less power consumption. At least in the tests that our colleagues did, the situation is not at all like that.

As you can see, the Geekbench OpenCL test demonstrates a twofold superiority of Nvidia’s flagship over Apple’s new product. At the same time, with twice the number of GPU cores, the M1 Ultra is only 30% faster than the M1 Max.
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the situation is already better. Here, the M1 Ultra is only 15% behind the RTX 3090 if we are talking about 1440p resolution. It should be noted that in Full HD the gap is higher. Unfortunately, there is no 4K performance data for the Nvidia card, which is odd. But it is worth noting one more thing: if you compare Mac Studio with Mac Pro, then in Full HD the second is noticeably faster, but in higher resolutions, the new PC is faster. In any case, even if the M1 Ultra falls short of the RTX 3090, the GPU performance is still incredible, especially given the power consumption.
