Ricoh Imaging has announced the development of the HD Pentax-DA * 16-50mmF2.8ED PLM AW lens, which it claims is a new generation of the Star series. This lens will be designed for Pentax APS-C digital SLR cameras.
The manufacturer says it has redefined its internal standards when developing its Star series lenses, especially in terms of resolution, to achieve “first-class image quality, large aperture, and exceptional reliability and performance.” The lens under development is said to “provide the highest level of performance and should be regarded as the ideal standard zoom lens for the Pentax K-3 Mark III, the new flagship of the Pentax APS-C format digital SLR lineup.”
The lens covers 24.5-76.5mm equivalent focal lengths while maintaining a maximum aperture of f / 2.8 over the entire range. It is equipped with a KAF4 mount and is designed for electromagnetic diaphragm control. Rapid focusing when taking photos and smooth tracking autofocus during video recording is designed to provide a pulse drive (PLM). The minimum focusing distance is 0.4 m. The lens is weatherproof. The lens is scheduled to be released this year.
