He could not live with remorse: He went to the police and confessed that he strangled a woman in 2011

A surprise awaited the police at the sheriff’s office in Florida of USA last Thursday, when a man came in and confessed to strangling a woman more than 10 years ago. In fact, as he confessed to the police, “he could not live with remorse”.

Benjamin Moulton, 43, told police he killed Nicole Scott in 2011 during an outburst of rage, according to a statement from Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

“She told the detectives since then “he had found Jehovah and could no longer live with remorse”“, As stated in the announcement.

Moulton allegedly revealed to the police the details of the woman’s death, which, however, have not been made public.

Security cameras recorded him entering the sheriff’s office, after first getting off the back of a car. In his hands he held something that looked like coffee. He goes out again accompanied by a police officer.

“It almost never happens”

Sheriff’s office spokesman Randy Warren told Fox 13 that “it almost never happens that way.”

A man found 29-year-old Scott dead in a wooded area near an avenue in Manatee County. She was partially dressed and had facial injuries. He was later found to have been strangled, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities, who found that her body had been dumped at the scene three days before they spoke to Moulton at the time about the crime, never arrested him or linked him directly to the crime.

Police have never been able to find a “clear suspect” in the case.

Moulton is now facing charges for murder.
