He gave him all his savings and traveled over 1000 km to meet his virtual girlfriend and she never showed up

Throughout the pandemic, social networks and dating applications increased in popularity, as their use was the tool that allowed us to be in contact with our loved ones and even meet new people.

Unfortunately, this also brought with it a new form of scams and deceptions, such as the one experienced by a young man who invested all his savings to travel more than a thousand kilometers and meet his “virtual girlfriend”, who never appeared.

Mateus, 18 years old and originally from Brazil, believed he had met the love of his life through a renowned app dating. Their relationship lasted two years, but the outcome was terrible.

Mateus and Luana (whom he met online) had an online relationship for two consecutive years, during which time they used to send messages or hold phone calls. The relationship seemed to be going so well that Mateus decided to move with her to Osasco, a municipality in Brazil.

The young man worked and saved all the money he could, he sent it to Luana to start managing it and he only kept enough to pay for the bus ticket. But after leaving everything and traveling more than a thousand kilometers, the young man was surprised that Luana never appeared to receive him, even blocked him from all his social networks.

Desperate and disappointed, Mateus had to sleep at the bus station. After a few hours, the young man asked soldiers guarding the area for help, explained what had happened and told them how ashamed he felt.

For their part, the soldiers told the young man that he had nothing to be ashamed of, because his only crime was to believe in someone who played with his feelings. In the end, the soldiers made a collection among themselves, raising about $ 90, enough that Mateus was able to buy a ticket back home.

Mateus shared his experience on social media, trying to warn those in a similar situation and, incidentally, thanking the soldiers who helped him return home safely.
