José Oliveira Lima, lawyer for the former president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, told CNN that his client “wants a more rigorous investigation” of the allegations of harassment against bank employees and that, in the end, “Guimarães’ innocence will be proven”.
According to the lawyer, the former Caixa executive “has no fear” of the accusations and processes he will face.
This Monday (4), the Public Ministry of Labor inspected Caixa’s headquarters in Brasília. It also decided to include moral harassment in the list of investigated crimes in which the accusation of sexual harassment already appears.
asked by CNN Pedro Guimarães’ lawyer stressed that he is convinced of his innocence regarding both types of harassment, both sexual and moral, despite the series of reports from employees and also the disclosure of audios that would have been captured in bank meetings with cursing and threatening statements attributed to Pedro Guimarães.
The defense told the CNN who have not yet had access to the investigations. In addition to the Public Ministry of Labor, the Federal Public Ministry is also investigating the case.
Guimarães has avoided interviews. In the letter of resignation from Caixa, delivered last Wednesday, he stated that “the accusations are not true and do not reflect my professional or personal attitude” and defended an impartial investigation.
