They call him “America’s most successful trespasser” and have good reason to do so.
The 52-year-old masterfully avoids being evicted from home Long Island where he has been living without rent for 23 years. Something he managed to do again by hiring a new lawyer…
He lives in a house without paying for 20 years and escaped eviction again
Guramrit Hanspal, 52, has been living in a home he does not own for 23 years without paying for one. This does not mean that the owner of the house, the real estate agency Diamond Ridge, has not tried to evict him repeatedly.
Hanspal again managed to avoid her eviction, hiring a new lawyer one day before the trial of his case.
Three different owners have been trying to get him out of the 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom house since 2000.
He managed to save her many times, taking advantage of the “windows” of the system and the demonic legal manipulations of his lawyers. This time it was postponed, as Hanspal’s lawyer, William Friedman, asked for more time, because attorney David Gevanter had come to the case just the day before. Judge William A. Hohauser agreed to adjourn.
“This is the last of 40 lawyers to appear on the eve of the trial,” said Diamond Ridge attorney Jordan Katz. “It’s very typical for the defendant, he recycles lawyers to buy more time, this guy laughs at courts“, Commented Max Sold, also an employee of Diamond Ridge.
Hanspal bought the house in 1998 for $ 290,000, but only paid a $ 1,602.37 installment, according to the New York Post. He has not given one since.
When Diamond Ridge bought the house from Chase in 2018, she was even willing to give him $ 20,000 to leave. He declined the offer, forcing Diamond Ridge to spend more than $ 150,000 in legal costs.
Prior to Diamond Ridge, Washington Mutual and Chase had suffered similar defeats, as well as lengthy court battles.
