One Minas Gerais tourist was shot during an attempted robbery in the port area of Rio de Janeiro on the afternoon of last Sunday (6). The man, identified as Vinícius Cardozo Moreira Dias, would go to a cruise trip with his family.
According to his wife, the influencer Poliana Ribeiro, her husband took four shots by reacting to protect her and her parents, with whom she would make the trip. The details of the approach before the crime were revealed in a sequence of videos published on the morning of Monday (7), on social networks.
Accompanied by her husband and in -laws, she narrated in detail the moment of tension experienced by them, right after arrival at Avenida Barão de Tefé, around 12 noon, when a man approached and asked a seemingly harmless question.
“Cowardly he first approached me and I saw no evil for the time it was: Oh, girl, that’s what (referring to the cruise)? He’s from the Navy? ‘ I said no, he walked away a little and watched us.
Moments later, the man came back and asked the couple and relatives to get in the car. Poliana reported that he was armed and threatened everyone. “He said he was going to kill us, showed the firearm and asked to stick, these things. But there was no time,” Poliana reported.
“He was nervous about people’s movement, and my husband realized that he was going to be a kidnapping and reacted. When my husband managed to get out of the car, the criminal fired him four shots,” said the influencer.
During the attack, there was a body struggle between the robber and Vinícius Cardozo. According to the Military Police, the suspect tried to steal the man’s gold necklace before shooting.
Wounded, Vinicius was rescued by an ice seller passing by and taken to a tricycle to a military police station. From there, he was referred to the Souza Aguiar Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains hospitalized and stable, according to information from the Municipal Health Secretariat.
Amid pain, Poliana said she received all the necessary support after the crime. She thanked the reception of the police teams and praised the care provided at the hospital.
“Here at the hospital it’s being excellent. The police send me a message asking how he is. We are really well assisted in the grace of God, but it’s very difficult.” He said, thrilled.
The criminal fled after the shots, but was located shortly afterwards at Morro do Pinto by 5th BPM teams (Harmonia Square) and the Present Security Program. He was arrested and taken to the 5th DP (Mem de Sá), where the case is being investigated.
