A woman was enjoying her lunchtime walk on the beach with her husband when she spotted a strange object on the shore that turned out to be a 1.8 million year old mammoth tooth. 56-year-old Chris Bien, who is a volunteer at Worthing Museum and a member of the Hove Archaeological Society, decided a few days ago to go for a walk on Holland-on-Sea beach in Essex. So she went with her husband and according to the New York Post during the walk she spotted something that stood out on the shore and bent down to dig it up to see what it was. “It caught my eye and I bent down to see what it was. Then, I thought it must be a tooth to have such a pattern. I started to scrape it with my hands, but it was so deep in the ground that I had to bring tools,” he said.
