A man from Louisiana tried to sell his expensive bike online, but ended up dead after meeting the buyer.
Joseph Vindel, 29, left his New Orleans home Sunday morning to meet with Jalen Harvey in order to sell him his bike, which he had taken to Facebook Marketplace for $ 2,700.
According to the local sheriff’s office, “Vindel never returned from the transaction.” The seller’s family was notified to the police, as they had not heard from him for hours.
Authorities found the messages exchanged between the two men. Following the traces, the police found themselves in a block of flats, where they located the bike.
Shortly afterwards, they came in contact with 20-year-old Harvey, who confessed to shooting Vindel in his car several times. The perpetrator then sat in the driver’s seat and took a car and a corpse to a secluded spot. He even returned home on the victim’s bicycle.
Harvey was arrested Monday and faces murder charges. Vindel’s mother, Lindsey, said she could not believe her son had been killed on a bicycle.
