Health can redefine in this 2nd guidance on quarantine of people with Covid

The Ministry of Health may hammer out new recommendations regarding the quarantine period for people infected with Covid-19. A meeting, this Monday (10), should bring together members of the portfolio, the Department of Health Surveillance and the national councils of health secretaries of municipalities and states (Conasems and Conass).

The Ministry of Health’s suggestion should be to keep the infected isolated after Covid’s diagnosis for at least seven days. But with the possibility of reducing the quarantine to five days if the infected person is asymptomatic, without fever and without the use of antipyretics, in addition to the need to test negative.

The recommendation follows the same advocated and adopted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, of the United States. This Saturday, the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, spoke again about the possibility of reviewing the orientation regarding the isolation period. “This is a point that is being analyzed. By the way, the city of Rio de Janeiro has already recommended this, those who have been asymptomatic for 5 days, with a medical recommendation and a negative test, are freed”, he said.

Among the secretaries that make up the Conass there is still no consensus formed on how the quarantine should be. The change in orientation divides opinions but the expectation is that an agreement can be reached this Monday. The assessment of those who defend the reduction of isolation is that with the advance of vaccination, the disease is milder and recovery is faster.
