The Ministry of Health publishes this Friday (10) a technical note that facilitates access for patients in Rio Grande do Sul who live with hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, HIV or AIDS to antiviral treatment.
The measure allows patients to access the medicine when they are even outside Rio Grande do Sul, with a medical prescription without an expiration date or with an expired prescription and without the requirement for viral load tests.
The technical note was prepared by the Department of Health and Environmental Surveillance of the department. The decision was taken in light of reports about the difficulties in withdrawing medicines for the treatment of people living with HIV or AIDS and patients with hepatitis B and C infection.
The relaxation of requirements for patients to have access to the medicines that are part of their treatments will remain in force during the public calamity situation in the State.
The ministry maintains permanent contact with health managers in Rio Grande do Sul regarding the situation of these patients through the Department of HIV, AIDS, Tuberculosis, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
The folder advises that, if lamivudine 150mg and dolutegravir 50mg are unavailable in the presentation of isolated monodrugs, people living with HIV or AIDS should receive the combined fixed dose of lamivudine 300mg + dolutegravir 50mg.
This should happen regardless of age group and the use of other concomitant antiretroviral medications, according to the ministry. The folder calls for special attention to pregnant women living with HIV or undergoing treatment for syphilis and hepatitis C.
Other measures
The ministry also brought forward the sending of medicines for mycoses to municipalities affected by heavy rains. The ministry's technicians prepare material with guidance on isolation and criteria for prescribing preventive treatment for tuberculosis in the care of people in shelters.
Preventive actions and care related to hepatitis A, common in natural disasters and the unavailability of basic sanitation and drinking water, are also being coordinated.
Given the reduction in the capacity of laboratories and health services in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, the ministry must publish a technical note with guidelines on which populations should be prioritized for carrying out viral load and T lymphocyte count tests. CD4+.
