Health post employee suffers burns after being attacked with acid by woman in Bahia

An employee at a Family Health Unit (USF) suffered 1st degree burns after being attacked by a woman who entered the unit and threw acid at the victim. The case happened around 8 am this Tuesday (12), in Lauro de Freitas, a city in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.

The moment of the attack was caught on a security camera. The images show the moment the suspect enters the health unit, goes to reception and throws the caustic soda at the employee. It is also possible to notice the rush of those who were there. The woman tried to escape, but was caught.

Information obtained indicates that the aggressor is already monitored by the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), has psychological problems, and had no relationship with the victim. The unit was closed and service to the population will resume on Wednesday (13), with the presence of the Municipal Guard.

The City of Lauro de Freitas regretted what happened and clarified, through the Municipal Health Department, that it had already taken all the necessary measures to provide immediate assistance to the employee. Initially, the victim was treated in Lauro de Freitas, and was subsequently referred to the State General Hospital, in the capital of Bahia, which is a reference for this type of treatment.

In a note, the Civil Police stated that the suspect was arrested and that the case was registered as serious bodily injury, at the 27th Territorial Police Station (DT/Itinga).
