Health predicts 3.75m doses of Covid-19 vaccine for children in January

Ministry of Health sources told CNN that the forecast is that in January, 3.75 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 will be made available for Brazilian children between 5 and 11 years old.

The first batch, which should arrive next week, will be, like the CNN showed, of 1.25 million doses.

The next two batches that will be distributed must have the same number of doses: 1.25 million each.

For all Brazilian children to have at least the first dose, 20 million doses are needed, which are expected to reach the end of the first trimester.

In addition to the fact that Pfizer itself does not have enough doses to immediately provide it, the Health assessment is that childhood vaccination will have a slower pace than adult immunization, both because of the protocols that will be adopted and the adherence of parents to the vaccination.
