Writer and poet Roseana Murray, 73 years old, attacked by pitbulls last Friday morning (5), in Saquarema, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, is in stable health, according to information from the management of the State Hospital Alberto Torres, where she is hospitalized.
André Murray, 55 years old, one of the writer's children, declared that his mother “is recovering very well” and thanked the messages of affection and solidarity that the family has been receiving.
According to the Fire Department, agents were called at 6:13 am on Friday (5) to respond to an incident involving a dog attack on Avenida Ministro Salgado Filho. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that the victim had several injuries caused by dog bites.
The writer received the first care at the scene of the incident. Afterwards, due to the severity of the bruises, she had to be removed by helicopter to the Alberto Torres State Hospital, where she remains hospitalized.
Pitbull owners were arrested
The three people who took care of the Pitbull dogs that attacked the writer were arrested red-handed this Friday (5) by agents from the 124th DP (Saquarema).
According to delegate André Bueno, responsible for the case, Davidson Ribeiro dos Santos, Marcia Rihan Martins Correa and Kayky da Conceição Ribeiro dos Santos were arrested for the crime of mistreating animals, and will also be charged with failing to take care of animals and causing bodily harm.
“It was found that the place where the animals were kept was an unhealthy place, with inadequate food and they were weakened,” said the delegate regarding the arrest for mistreatment.
The case remains under investigation by the 124th DP (Saquarema).
