Heat 2: Al Pacino bets on Timothée Chalamet

Al Pacino has no doubts: if anything, a second chapter of Heat – The challenge become reality, he would like Timothée Chalamet to play the younger and more immature version of Vincent Hanna, the detective he lent the face in Michael Mann’s historic film. “He is a magnificent actor. As well as very beautiful “Al Pacino said referring to Chalamet during a panel at the Tribeca Film Festival set up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, which has been postponed for two years due to the pandemic.

In fact, the idea of a sequel is not all that abstruse, given that in August 2022 the sequel and, together, the prequel of the film with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro will be released in book format – in Italy it will arrive for HarperCollins -, paving the way for a possible film adaptation which, given the brilliant results of Top Gun: Maverick at the box office, it could have an easy life also thanks to a possible involvement of Timothée Chalamet who, for now, has chosen not to comment on the actor’s investiture.

Speaking of the novel, Mann himself said he would like to turn the story into a feature film or series, continuing to tell the subtle and provocative relationship between the professional criminal Neil McCauley played by De Niro and the obsessive detective played by Al Pacino. In all this, a possible engagement of Timothée Chalamet, which we will see soon in Dunes 2 and in Wonkathe prequel de The Chocolate Factory directed by Paul King, it would be a masterstroke.
