Heat wave: how to care for pets during high temperatures?

The arrival of high temperatures in increasingly frequent heat waves can have consequences for the health of pets. Dogs and cats, full of fur, also suffer when thermometers rise. Have you ever noticed your pet drooling more than normal, with its tongue hanging out, panting a little, or without appetite during the day? These are some signs that your pet is feeling the effects of heat.

Rio de Janeiro recorded, on Monday (13), at 8 am, a thermal sensation of 52.7 degrees, in Guaratiba, a neighborhood in the west zone. The highest temperature in the city was 36.4 degrees.

In São Paulo, no refreshments either. The city hall’s Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) recorded the highest maximum temperature of the year, 37.8 degrees. And it is expected that this record will be broken again.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the number of states on maximum alert due to the heat rose to 15 states, plus the Federal District.

To ensure the well-being of animals and protect them during this period, it is crucial to adopt preventive measures and provide a safe and comfortable environment for pets.
