Heavy condemnation of Turkey for the detention of Ahmet Altan

In severe condemnation Turkey The European Court of Human Rights has proceeded to detain the well-known journalist and writer Ahmet Altan.

As AMPE reminds, Altan is being prosecuted for “participation” in the “coup” of 2016.

“There is no indication that the applicant’s actions are part of a plan to overthrow the Turkish government,” the judges said, noting a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights’ rules on freedom of expression.
