Heavy rain hits the north coast of SP again and leaves residents on alert

On the afternoon of this Friday (10), heavy rain hit the northern coast of the state of São Paulo again. Residents recorded on video the landslide of a hill on the highway that connects the beaches of Cambury and Boiçucanga, which are located in São Sebastião, the region most affected by the rains of the last February 18th.

According to the Civil Defense, in the last 24 hours, it rained 64mm in the region, with 50mm in the last hour. More rain is forecast.

“The rain persists for a few hours yet, remembering that the soil, because it is soaked, must be given special attention”, said the agency in a note.

Regarding the February rains, so far, 65 deaths have been confirmed by the State Government, 64 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba.

57 bodies have already been identified and released for burial. There are 21 adult men, 17 adult women and 19 children.
