The heavy rains that hit southern Brazil last Thursday (16) caused significant damage, mainly in Santa Catarina.
Several cities were submerged, with Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis among the most affected.
The situation is so serious that other states are already mobilizing to provide rescue equipment and donations to the population of Santa Catarina.
The scenario also extended to Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul, where there were records of strong winds, hail and flooding on several streets in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
Weather forecast for the next few days
The weather forecast indicates that the rain will not stop this Friday (17).
Throughout the day, precipitation is expected in the Central-West, North and part of the Southeast and South regions of the country.
This weather condition is expected to last through the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday featuring lots of clouds, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in these regions.
Firm weather in the Southeast and Northeast of the country
The weather should only become firmer in part of the Southeast and Northeast of Brazil.
Despite the rain, temperatures remain high in most of the country due to a heat wave.
In Rio de Janeiro, thermometers could reach 36ºC this Friday (17), while in Boa Vista the predicted maximum is 35ºC.
In Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina, the maximum temperature predicted for today is 28ºC.
In Macapá, thermometers can reach 30ºC.
