Heavy rains hit at least 25 cities in Rio Grande do Sul

Once again, Rio Grande do Sul is affected by strong storms that left at least 25 municipalities with rainfall above 100 millimeters in the last 24 hours, according to figures from the National Center for Monitoring and Alerts for Natural Disasters (Cemaden).

The municipality of Faxinal Do Soturno, in the central region of the state, recorded 226.2 millimeters of rain. Lagoa Bonita Do Sul and Segredo also recorded accumulations above 200 millimeters.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) had already issued a red alert for storms in the state of Rio Grande do Sul this Monday (29). The Institute recorded wind gusts above 50km/h in at least 15 cities. In the municipality of Soledade, winds reached 87 km/h.

According to Climatempo, the movement of a cold front is what contributes to the entry of humidity into the region. This Tuesday (30), the sun will appear again in all regions of the state, but rain showers are expected, especially in the afternoon. The area to be most careful is the central and southern zone, where showers can occur in the morning.

The tendency for the next few days is for this cold front to move towards the Southeast, leaving the weather unstable throughout the South region. On Friday (3), a second cold front enters the state and causes new storms. Rain showers are expected to persist throughout the weekend.
