‘We never stopped caring for each other’ Helena Christensen pays tribute to ex-boyfriend Michael Hutchence

Helena Christensen, 51, took Instagram this Saturday to pay tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Michael Hutchence, on his 23rd death anniversary. 

Christensen posted, “Am organizing hundreds of Polaroids and came across these, today of all days,” the 51-year-old supermodel shared on Instagram. “Michael was a very beautiful and kind man, incredibly gifted and soulful. We had the best time and laughed a lot in the years we spent together but eventually we just drifted apart. 

“I think I felt too young for the responsibility it takes being with someone older who lived a very different life,” she said. “And he prob felt the same way. But we never stopped caring about each other. Today I’m sending him love from earth and remembering the sweet, tender, funny, smart man he was.” 

The Danish super-model and the Australian musician (late) were a popular couple back in the 90’s. The two were together for four years between 1991 and 1995 after which they broke up. Later Hutchence got into on a tumultuous relationship with Paula Yates. He has a daughter with Paula, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof, now 24. 

In 1997, when his daughter was only 16 months old; Hutchence committed suicide by hanging himself. He was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney. A year later, Helena started dating The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, whom she has a son with. 

The couple called it quits in 2003, after being together for nearly five years, but continue to remain on friendly terms to raise their 21-year-old son. 

Christensen has also previously posted tribute to the late actor on his birth and death anniversaries. In 2019, she posted a picture on his death anniversary with the caption, “All of us who loved you so very much will always share memories and stories about you.” 

Later on his birth anniversary in 2019, she posted “Happy birthday Michael. You’re the one bestowing us with presents, year after year, having left behind so many great memories for us to cherish and so many amazing songs to listen to forever.”
