Helicopter crash in Italy: All seven occupants dead

The 6 passengers and the pilot are dead of the helicopter that crashed in central Italy, as reported by the Italian news agency Ansa.

The helicopter crashed in a mountainous region of the Apennines, located on the border of the regions of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.

In addition to the pilot, there were four Turkish managers and two Lebanese on board. According to Italian media, the Italian pilot allegedly crashed on a slope near the Lama torrent, at an altitude of 1,922 meters.

Forces of the Italian Economic Police, the Italian Air Force and the Alpine First Aid Department rushed to the spot.

Video from the last seconds of the flight

There is a video of a few seconds sent via chat by one of the six passengers to his son, which records the flight of the helicopter in the middle of a severe storm.

This was stated by Gazzetta di Modena, clarifying that at the moment the recipient of the film – the son of one of the two Lebanese directors of the aircraft – has not made it public, in view of the ongoing investigation.

According to the local newspaper, the 20-second video, which was sent to his son in Lebanon, probably before the blackout that occurred in the helicopter, shows the flight during a storm. A detail that, like other traces, is examined by the forces involved in the research.

On Thursday, at the time of the alleged helicopter crash, the weather conditions in this area of the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia were unfavorable: the ridge was hit by a storm with rain, lightning and hail.
