The pilot and the 12-year-old child rescued after a helicopter crash in Caieiras, São Paulo, are not at risk of death, according to information from the Captain Alexandre Guedes, spokesperson for the Military Police of the State of São Paulo (PMESP) .
The two survivors remain hospitalized at Hospital das Clínicas, in the capital of São Paulo, for medical evaluation.
Speaking to CNN, Captain Guedes stated that preliminary information indicates that those rescued are in stable physical condition.
“They are fine, they are not at risk. However, it depends on an exam, it depends on the medical team, on medical opinion”, declared the spokesperson.
Rescue in adverse conditions
It is estimated that the accident occurred around 7pm, in an area that is difficult to access, according to the Captain.
Rescue teams faced unfavorable weather conditions during the operation.
“Yesterday the weather was bad, it rained a lot, but, thank God, the military police, from the moment the accident was reported, we received the information, we started the search”, he reported.
Despite the severity of the accident and the adverse conditions, images of the rescue suggest that the survivors had no apparent trauma or injuries.
The quick action of the rescue teams was crucial to the positive outcome of the operation.
“Thank God, the military police managed to locate them and take them to medical care”, concluded Captain Guedes.
