Helicopter with Governor Cláudio Castro makes emergency landing

A helicopter carrying the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), had to make an emergency landing this Saturday morning (2) after colliding with an animal. No one was injured in the accident.

The aircraft was then replaced by another and the governor went to Baixada Fluminense, where he monitored the situation in the region affected by the rains on Friday.

In a post on his social network, this afternoon, Castro appears among the residents of the city of Nova Iguaçu, visiting affected neighborhoods and houses. According to the publication, since last night, the Civil Defense and the Fire Department have already rescued more than 100 people alive.

The heavy rains were caused by a cold front that hit cities in the state, including Paraty, Mesquita and Angra dos Reis. At least 14 people have died from the impacts of the storms so far.

In Paraty, a landslide caused the death of seven people from the same family.

In the city of Mesquita, a 38-year-old man was electrocuted after several landslides and flooding, according to the State Civil Defense. in conversation with the CNNthe mayor of the city, Jorge Miranda (PL-RJ), declared that there are no missing persons, and that the first action to be taken to prevent other accidents from happening is to clean the rivers.

In Angra dos Reis, at least 6 victims died after the heavy rains, including a 4-year-old girl. So far, nine people are under the rubble.
