Helicopter with indigenous people crashes in a forested area in Acre, and everyone survives

The Acre Fire Department rescued victims of a helicopter crash in a forest in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul.

Two crew members and two indigenous people were on the aircraft, which was providing services to the Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI) on Sunday (8).

The pilot and a mechanic had gone to rescue two indigenous people who needed medical attention in a village, but were forced to land.

In the images, it is possible to see the damage that the aircraft suffered. All were found alive. Two people needed treatment at the hospital.

“We were called by the company that provides services to Funai after they lost contact with the aircraft. Immediately, the Fire Department team went to the region where they found the pilot and the other members, who were rescued alive. The estimated damage was only material”, declared the general commander of the Fire Brigade, Charles Santos.

A team from the Integrated Air Operations Center, as well as firefighters, must return to the accident site for a more detailed assessment.

THE CNN contacted the National Indian Foundation (Funai) and is awaiting a response.
