Henriete Bernabé will be acting president of Caixa until Daniella Marques takes office

The board of directors of Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) informed this Thursday, 30, through a note, that the vice president of Housing of the bank, Henriete Bernabé, will occupy the interim presidency until the new CEO, Daniella Marques, takes over. possession.

Also according to the note, Daniella’s internal eligibility procedures are being initiated. Assistant to the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, it still needs to be approved by the institution’s internal bodies.

In the note, Caixa’s board also states that it became aware of the “possible existence of an investigation procedure” against former president Pedro Guimarães, on June 28, and that the president of the agency requested that the audit committee seek information about the existence of investigation on the same facts in the instances of the bank.

Guimarães was fired this Wednesday (29), after allegations of sexual harassment by him to employees of Caixa. The Federal Public Ministry investigates the executive’s conduct.

“After the preliminary information was determined, the existence of a complaint received by Caixa’s Complaints Channel in May of this year was identified. Caixa’s Whistleblower Channel, as recommended by good governance practices, is managed by an external entity, in order to preserve the identity of whistleblowers.

Caixa’s board says that the bank’s internal affairs department understood that more information would be needed for the investigation to proceed internally. This information was provided on June 28 by the complainant. The investigation of the internal affairs department is in progress.

“Due to the facts, the Council, meeting on this date in an extraordinary session, not only determined the continuation of the investigation by the Corregedoria, but also decided to hire an independent company to promote further investigations”, says the bank’s management body.

“Caixa’s Board of Directors notes that illicit conduct is not tolerated, especially sexual harassment or harassment of any nature, and, if proven to be practiced by agents of the institution, they will receive the due treatment provided for in the legislation and in the company’s internal rules” , concludes the note.
