The new testimonies of former councilor Dr. Jairinho, and Monique Medeiros, both defendants in the process for the death of four-year-old Henry Borel. The session is scheduled to start at 9:30 am, and was scheduled by the acting judge of the 2nd Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Werneck Cotta.

In addition to Jairinho and Monique, who has been under house arrest for a month, criminal experts Leonardo Tauil and assistant coach Sami El Jundi, appointed by Jairinho’s lawyers, will also be heard on the same day.

“We are still in the middle of the process and I have no doubt that many news will emerge from this case”, said one of the former councilor’s defenders, Cláudio Dalledone.

Dr. Jairinho and his ex-partner, teacher Monique Medeiros respond to several crimes related to the death of Henry Borel. The boy died on March 8 of last year, after being tortured in the apartment where he lived in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the state capital.

Home prison

On April 5, Judge Elizabeth Machado Louro, from the 2nd Criminal Court of the capital, responded to a request made by Monique’s defense and replaced preventive detention with house arrest, using an electronic anklet, and implementing precautionary measures.

The Public Ministry appeals the decision, so that the teacher returns to the prison.

In the request made to the Court, the defense alleged that Monique, who had been in prison for about a year, had been a victim of violence and intimidation by other inmates in the prison where she was.

In the same decision, the Justice maintained the preventive detention of Jairinho, who is responsible for murder, torture, witness coercion, procedural fraud and misrepresentation.
