Vice President Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night (22) will have three overall goals, according to a campaign representative:
- Sharing the Vice President’s story and record with Americans
- Contrast your view with that of Donald Trump
- Root this vision in patriotism
Harris spent much of the last day focusing on final preparations for the speech at her downtown Chicago hotel. Sources say the vice president also rehearsed her speech earlier this week at Howard University in Washington.
In what is arguably the most important speech of her political career on the final night of the Democratic National Convention, Harris will recount her growing up and being raised in the middle class and how that background fueled her decision to become a prosecutor “to protect others,” according to a campaign representative who requested anonymity.
The vice president will also delve into “Project 2025,” the conservative plan for a second term in the White House for Trump that the former president has tried to distance himself from.
“She will point out the dangers posed by Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda that would strip people of their freedoms, raise the cost of living and take the country backwards,” the official said.
Harris will argue that “unlike Trump, who does not speak well of our country,” she is driven by a deep sense of patriotism and a desire to be a president for all Americans.”
