Hermès in the Making: discovering the brand’s métiers

Discover how leather is worked, see the stone setting up close, learn about the techniques for engraving a carré or printing silk. These are just some of the gestures – which give life to the world’s great masterpieces every day Hermès –which tell the savoir faire of the maison.

A story in which, until 29 May you can totally immerse yourself, thanks to Hermès in the Makingan interactive path, hosted at OGR Turininternational center for innovation, culture and contemporary art, which leads to the discovery of métier of the brand. Here, visitors will be able to meet eleven artisans, observe the processing techniques of the finest materials and also discover the sustainable model of maison.

The path is articulated around four themes that are at the basis of the history and development of the maison: protection and transmission of the savoir-faire, respect and quality of materials, awareness of the value of time, local roots. In the Sala Fucine of the former large repair shops in Corso Castelfidardo, the magic of creating objects designed to last, which embellish themselves over time, are transmitted and repaired, is revealed.

“Hermès in the Making it is a meeting of people: the artisans show live and tell their craft by interacting with the public »- he explains Francesca di Carrobio, CEO of Hermès Italy – “In addition to discovering the savoir-faire that make our maison special – such as that of leather and silk – this event is an opportunity to reflect on issues related to sustainability such as the origin of raw materials, the creation of new ateliers and the training of our craftsmen. The public will have the opportunity to learn about the Manufacto program, where schools open their doors to craftsmanship, to discover how leftovers of raw materials can be reinvented by creating new objects, such as our “petit h” atelier, to try their hand at workshops for learn the rudiments of the saddle stitch or try to print with the screen printing technique. “
