Hezbollah “plays a very dangerous game” with Israel, says Defense Forces spokesperson

Hezbollah is “playing a very dangerous game” and could drag Lebanon “into a war from which it will gain nothing,” said an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman.

“Is the Lebanese State really willing to put what remains of Lebanese prosperity and Lebanese sovereignty at risk because of the terrorists in Gaza?” wrote Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus on X, formerly known as Twitter, this Sunday (22) .

Conricus said Hezbollah has been attacking Israeli positions near the northern border between Israel and Lebanon and “escalating the situation.”

There were civilian and military casualties as a result of Hezbollah’s acts, he added.

The IDF has seen cases in which Hezbollah “intentionally fired close to UN positions,” Conricus said, possibly to “try to [as FDI] to return that fire and perhaps harm UN peacekeeping forces.”

Hezbollah fires missiles and rockets from civilian buildings, Conricus explained, and typically does so in populated areas.

“They took many opportunities to attack Israeli civilians and soldiers,” he added.

In response, the IDF used tanks, drones, artillery and infantry to attack various Hezbollah infrastructure, Conricus cited.

The Israelis also attacked Hezbollah squads that controlled anti-tank missiles, he added.
