Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that if Hezbollah decides to enter the war, it will be paralyzed “with a force that (it) cannot even imagine.”
“And the meaning for (Hezbollah) and the state of Lebanon will be devastating, but we are prepared for any scenario,” Netanyahu said during a visit to troops in northern Israel this Sunday (22).
In a video, Netanyahu tells the military: “We are in a battle for life, a battle for our home. This is not an exaggeration; this is war. It’s ‘be or cease’ — they should cease.”
Hezbollah is an Islamic movement supported by Iran and one of the most powerful paramilitary forces in the Middle East.
The group, which has its main base on the Israel-Lebanon border, could become an unpredictable factor in the war between the radical Islamic group Hamas and Israel and trigger a wider regional conflict.
The war that began with Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel — which, according to Israeli authorities, killed 1,400 people — has already had wide ramifications in the Middle East and triggered diplomatic disagreements and protests around the world.

The consequences are palpable on the Lebanon-Israel border, where Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in low-intensity clashes since the start of the war, putting the entire region on a knife’s edge.
It remains unclear whether Hezbollah will intervene in the Hamas-Israel war on behalf of the Palestinians. If Hezbollah enters the war, it could trigger a multifront conflict, pushing the Middle East into unfamiliar terrain with unpredictable consequences.
