High intensity HIIT training helps prevent cancer and neurodegenerative diseases

Practice exercise, but even better pick up the pace with the so-called High-Intensity Interval Training, i.e. extreme cardio efforts for a small and repeated amount of time, can help prevent neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. A team of Italian researchers explains it in the study entitled Role of Exercise and Natural Protective Substances on Sirtuin Activation published in the magazine Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

HIIT is the type of intensive training typically followed by those who practice contact sports such as deadfight, boxing, MMA and martial arts in general. This type of exercise stimulates the production of two important proteins with enzymatic activity in the short term: SIRT1 And SIRT3. In turn, the sirtuins – silent information regulator – regulate important metabolic pathways and are involved in many biological processes such as cell survival and metabolism, DNA repair and calorie restriction. The seven members of this family of enzymes are considered potential allies for the treatment of pathologies such as neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases and cancer, and diets have also been designed around them.

«The most important effects of exercise-induced SIRT activation can be considered the reduction of oxidative stress and, more generally, an increase in the mitochondrial health – reads the survey – the metabolic pathways that activate the expression of Sirt through exercise are multiple and the available evidence has probably explored only some of the mechanisms with experiments performed on animal models and humans. The effects on SIRT1 and SIRT3 in human musculoskeletal system are related to both modality and intensity of exercise. Only aerobic exercise appears to consistently increase the expression of SIRT1 and SIRT3 and theintensity ranges from moderate to high with most of the evidence based primarily on SIRT1″.

The benefits of Deadfight

Deadfight, in particular, is a new and followed format of free fighting which includes a single round of 90 seconds, spectacular and explosive, is in its second edition and is already enjoying enormous success, even among VIPs. «According to scientific studies, intense physical exercise, such as that practiced for preparation for deadfight matches, which require extreme explosiveness and strength in a relatively short time, promotes cardiovascular health and endurance, allowing you to keep muscle mass active and burn more fat even during rest. It also helps to modulate blood sugar and blood pressure, as well as stimulate the endogenous production of sirtuins» he explains Ion Acosta, coach of celebrities such as the footballer Modibo Diakité, Princess Arabella von Liechtenstein but also of designers of the caliber of Annelie Hofstrom and pr Matilde Carli. «Research has shown that the activation of these proteins, also thanks to daily sports practice, for intense micro-sessions with rest intervals, can help keep us healthy and prevent the onset of even serious illnesses».

The survey obviously speaks of the preparatory training for these disciplines, not of the disciplines themselves. Which in any case, as in the case of pre-boxing, “enter” into training, characterizing it even in the non-competitive phases. In short: you can also train in deadfight or boxing, as the vast majority of practitioners do, without necessarily fighting. However, the deadfight is already gaining widespread approval from enthusiasts, practitioners and the public: «The second round of meetings, 10 in total – he explains Marco Menichellifounder and president of Deadfight Championship – saw the participation of athletes from 60 to 100 kg as well as a prestigious judge, Carlo Pedersoli Jr, national pride of combat disciplines abroad who fought in the biggest promotions in the world such as: UFC, Bellator and Cage Warriors».
