High of 8.8% in the price of diesel for distributors goes into effect this Tuesday

This Tuesday (10th) the readjustment of 8.8% in the price of diesel sold by Petrobras for distributors. With the increase, announced the day before, fuel costs R$ 4.91, and no longer R$ 4.51, per liter.

When announcing the readjustment, Petrobras stated that, considering the mandatory mixture of 90% of diesel A and 10% of biodiesel in the diesel that is sold, the state-owned company’s share in the consumer price will increase from R$4.06 to R$4. .42 per liter, on average, a variation would be R$ 0.36.

The price increase was the first in 60 days, and the state-owned company decided to maintain, per hour, the amounts charged for the Gasoline and for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG ).

In justifying the readjustment, the company said that the last increase in diesel prices, on March 11, reflected only part of the increase observed in market prices, and that it was necessary to make a new adjustment to avoid a shortage of fuel.

According to Petrobras, the global balance of diesel remains impacted, with a reduction in supply in relation to demand and global inventories below the seasonal lows of the last five years in the main supplier regions.

“This imbalance resulted in a rise in diesel prices worldwide, with the valuation of this fuel far above the valuation of oil. The difference between the price of diesel and the price of oil has never been higher,” he says.

The company pointed out that the company’s refineries are already operating close to the maximum level, and that there is no way to increase the internal refining capacity of the Petroleum for diesel production to meet the demand in the country. Currently, around 30% of the total diesel consumed comes from other refiners and importers.

“This means that price equilibrium with the market is a necessary condition for the adequate supply of all demand, naturally, by many suppliers who ensure adequate supply”.
