His resignation announced today that the prime minister of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, was referring to “many difficulties”, including his government’s inability to reshape. His resignation follows the conflict with Rasad al Alimi, the head of the Yemeni Presidential Council, over the powers of the latter after the latter refused Mubarak’s request to depart 12 from government ministers, as government sources said. According to sources, Finance Minister Salem Saleh bin Braick is expected to be the new prime minister. Mubarak was appointed prime minister in February 2024 after having previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
