Samsung Electronics has started selling a new version of its “fan” smartphone Galaxy S20 FE in Russia.

We will remind, last year Samsung Galaxy S20 FE debuted in modifications with 4G and 5G. In the first case, it was based on SoC Exynos 990, and in the second – Snapdragon 865. In Russia, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE LTE based on Exynos 990 was initially offered. And now a version with Snapdragon 865 has become available, but in a cheaper version – without support for 5G … The model went on sale this week in several countries, including Germany, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Samsung has been criticized for years for its Exynos SoCs and its “discriminatory” tradition of releasing Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC versions of flagships only in the US and China. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE LTE model based on the Exynos 990, available in Europe, Russia and a number of other countries, turned out to be quite problematic and is now being discontinued.

The new version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is labeled G780G, while the Exynos 990-based variation is labeled G780F. A smartphone can be found, for example, at the Svyaznoy retailer. The prices for the G780G and G780F are identical:

  • 49,990 rubles for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory
  • 55,990 rubles for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory
