Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is making a multi-day official visit to Australia, from October 4, in order to preside over the celebrations, both in Sydney and Melbourne, on the centenary of this important Province of the Ecumenical Throne on the fifth continent. The Primate of Orthodoxy, this morning, met with the Premier of the State of New South Wales, Chris Minns, at the State Parliament House in Sydney. The Prime Minister expressed his joy for the Patriarch’s visit to Sydney and wished it to be fruitful, while His Holiness thanked him for his interest and support towards the Holy Archdiocese and its flock, as well as his presence and speech at Divine Liturgy of last Sunday. His Holiness was accompanied by the Archbishop of Australia Makarios, the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Philotheos and the Grand Ecclesiastical Aetios, director of the Special Patriarchal Office, while the prime minister was flanked by expatriate government ministers and his associates.
