What is H&M Studio and why this collection is more special than the others
Just as you describe it Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of design and Creative advisor of H&M, «H&M Studio is our most fashionable collection. For fall, our design team has created a pragmatic yet poetic capsule of premium quality, which includes tailored garments, outerwear and embellished denim that you will wear over time». First launched in 2013the Studio collection, one of the most eagerly awaited by fans of the brand, blows out its first ten candles this year.
To celebrate such an important milestone, H&M could only create very current garments with timeless charm. And dark, in fact, at the right point. The key items are in fact designed for different occasions. For the day there’s the tailored black maxi coat with a cinched waist and broad shoulders, meant to be worn alongside a Victorian-style white shirt. For the evening, on the other hand, jackets, low-waisted jeans and dresses are embellished with rhinestones and iridescent textures. Which, to us as to you, will remind us of some cult stage clothes of the hyper-sophisticated heroines of film noir.
Finally there are the accessoriessimple but able to add that touch of protagonist light that never hurts.

Behind every garment there is attention to sustainability
The team of designers at the H&M Stockholm atelier has always had an eye for sustainable fabrics in creating the limited edition collections, which are punctually presented twice a year with the aim of giving women sartorial at democratic prices. “The collection is characterized by resistant and high-quality fabrics, most of which are made with materials from sustainable sources, including recycled polyester and Tencel,” explains the style team.
While it is true that we will have to wait about a month to make one (or more) garment from the H&M Studio Fall/Winter 2023-2024 collection our own, we have however moved forward and we have selected our 10 favorite garments. We explain why below.
1. The dress with drops instead of polka dots
We like it because it recalls one of the most loved print dress models royals and specifically by Kate Middleton and Letizia of Spain: long sleeves, with a wide silhouette and with a wide pleated skirt. A classic to have in your wardrobe but with the added twist of “teardrop” polka dots, as one of the Hitchcockian women would choose it today.

2. The leather nail
Short and narrow, with contrasting cuffs. We like it because a black leather jacket never hurts in the wardrobe. And then because he is hyper-contemporary, and because it reminds us of how Emily wears it Emily in Paris: open and with a dress underneath. An idea for the day and the evening, also ideal for these sudden drops in temperature.

3. The short dress with the collar
We know what you’re thinking: «this dress looks like Wednesday Addams». And that’s exactly why we like it: it has a dark attitude (the right one), and it’s different from the usual similar dresses thanks to the oversized shoulder pads and contrasting cuffs. Plus it’s in velvet, and will be your ally from the beginning of autumn until late spring.

4. Sock boots
Pointed shoes are among the big trends that are making a comeback. These boots they combine this trend with the now everlasting sock shoe, so tight that it looks like a second skin and looks as good with a pair of shorts as under a long skirt, and even combined with a pair of skinny jeans.

5. The Victorian shirt
We just spotted it on Alexa Chung in a recent post on Instagram and we immediately fell in love with it. Specifically, this one reflects all the requirements to be the perfect ally for suits, trench coats and coats: wide but not oversized, it has a nice collar to be shown even over jackets and cardigans and with sleeves that want to be shown and never roll up.

6. Jeans with rhinestones
The famous Carrie Bradshaw sparkle reigns supreme. We like it on jeans because it is an unexpected detail combined with denim and because it transforms the “everyday uniform” into an excellent look with a perfect quiet luxury style. Just don’t overdo the above: a white T-shirt or shirt will be the ideal allies, together with an open jacket in a neutral color.

7. The tailored coat
When thinking about the perfect coat for the cold season, the requirements are usually: a fitted shape, a model that goes beyond the knees and is black. We like this coat because it has all three characteristics, it’s elegant, not too flashy, and ideal to be worn from morning to night. In addition, the models with very wide shoulders and narrow waists are a seasonal cult: the waistline is also emphasized thanks to the imposing shoulders.

8. The cerulean sweater
We had already told you that blue triumphed. And if you are (still) thinking about Barbiecore, we remind you that the cerulean color is a timeless classic. Remember Miranda Priestly’s quote, don’t you?: «What you don’t know is that that sweater isn’t simply blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean. And you’re also gleefully unaware of the fact that in 2002 Oscar de la Renta made a collection of cerulean skirts and then it was Yves Saint Laurent, if I’m not mistaken, who came up with cerulean military jackets. And then cerulean quickly appeared in the collections of eight different designers. After that it gradually made its way into the department stores and finally infiltrated some tragic casual corner, where you evidently fished it out of the bargain bin.’ Let’s not add anything else.

9. The eye-catching and double-colored metal earrings
Among the big fans of these oversized and showy earrings is Meghan Markle. In addition, these are low cost (in fact, they cost € 54.99). Why buy them? They look as good with jeans and a T-shirt as they do with an evening dress, for example a gold one.

10. The bronze bustier
Sculptural but at the same time minimal. We like him because he’s the perfect special piece under a suit, especially if you don’t like completing the look too much with flashy jewels. In fact, he already does everything, just in the act of dressing you. And he also rocks a classic jacket and pant suit.
