HMD Global Unveils Nokia X30 5G and G60 5G and Launches Smartphone Subscriptions

HMD Global is committed to the environment. The company announced new smartphones made from recycled materials, and also launched a Circular subscription to extend the life of devices and reduce e-waste.

Nokia X30 5G

The new X-series model has a frame made entirely from recycled aluminum, and the plastic back panel is also made from 65% recycled material. Even the box was made from recycled paper, according to the company. And, of course, there is no charger included.

The Nokia X30 5G has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, which is a significant change as HMD Global hasn’t used this type of panel since the Nokia 9 PureView. The Snapdragon 695 processor is installed inside – not very powerful, but quite efficient. There are two memory configurations to choose from: 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB. As for the main camera, here it is dual with a 50 MP main sensor, optical stabilization and Pixel Binning pixel binning technology.

The smartphone is powered by a 4200mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The manufacturer promises to maintain capacity even after 800 charge cycles. Among other features, it is worth noting the presence of eSIM. HMD Global promises 3 years warranty, 3 years system updates and 3 years security updates. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 12, so it should get Android 15.

Nokia X30 5G went on sale at a price of 530 euros (about 32,400 rubles).

Nokia G60 5G

Another model of the G series with 5G support, which largely repeats the previous one. It’s made from recycled materials, uses the same chipset, and has the same warranty and support. Memory configurations are more modest: 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB and 6/128 GB. If not enough, you can expand using microSD cards.

This smartphone is slightly larger. It uses a 6.58-inch display with a higher refresh rate (120Hz instead of 90Hz) but lower brightness and a slightly worse protective glass. In addition, the main camera has lost optical stabilization, and the front camera has received a lower resolution. The battery is slightly larger at 4500 mAh but charges slower as it only supports 20W max.

Nokia G60 5G is already available for sale at a price of 320 euros (about 19,550 rubles).

HMD Global also announced the launch of Circular, a new way to use Nokia smartphones and tablets. For example, if the owner accidentally breaks or loses their device, the company will quickly replace it at no additional cost. After a few years of use, the owner has the right to send their device back, HMD can repair it and resell or recycle it. At the first stage, the Circular subscription is available in the UK and Germany.

As part of the Circular subscription, the Nokia X30 5G will cost £25 per month (about 1,700 rubles), and for the Nokia G60 5G you will have to pay 12.5 pounds (about 855 rubles).
