Holidays in SP: see what's open and what's closed on Good Friday and Easter

Due to the long Easter holiday, some services will have their opening hours changed in the city of São Paulo. The municipal vehicle rotation is suspended this Good Friday, the 29th.

Anyone staying in São Paulo can take advantage of the holiday to donate blood. The Pró-Sangue Foundation states that the institution's stock is in a worrying situation and encourages donations. See below for information on service locations.

See what the services are like in the city of São Paulo:

Vehicle rotation

The municipal vehicle rotation is not in effect this Friday, due to the Passion of Christ holiday.

Other existing restrictions in the city are also not in force:

  • Rotation of heavy vehicles (trucks);
  • Zone of Maximum Restriction on Truck Circulation (ZMRC);
  • Zone of Maximum Restriction for Chartered Companies (ZMRF);
  • Exclusive bus lanes will also be open.

The leisure cycle lane will be activated this Friday and Sunday (31), according to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET). The paid rotating parking lot (Blue Zone) will operate according to the location's signage.

Health

Outpatient Medical Assistance (AMAs) and Integrated AMAs/Basic Health Units (UBSs) will operate normally this Friday, including for multivaccination.

Emergency Care Units (UPAs), Emergency Rooms (PSs) and Day Hospitals will also have service on the holiday. Other units will have their operations changed.

Equipment that will be open during the holiday:

  • Outpatient Medical Assistance (AMAs) – from 7am to 10pm;
  • Integrated AMAs/Basic Health Units (UBSs) – from 7am to 10pm;
  • Municipal Hospitals (HMs);
  • Day Hospitals (HDs) 12h and 24h;
  • Emergency Care Units (UPAs);
  • Municipal emergency rooms (PSMs);
  • Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) IV;
  • Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) 192;
  • Toxicological Analysis Laboratory (LAT);
  • Urgency and Emergency Regulatory Complex (Crue);
  • Poison Control Center (CCI).

The four public veterinary hospitals will be closed throughout the holiday. The Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) III and the Domestic Animal Health and Protection Coordination (Cosap) will only operate for internal demands.

Mail

Due to the national holiday of the Passion of Christ, celebrated this Friday, there will be no service at post offices on this day.

On Saturday (30), the branches that normally serve on the respective day will be open, and delivery activities will also be carried out.

Addresses and opening hours of the agencies can be found here.

Procon

The institution informs that this Friday the post inside Poupatempo Sé will be closed, but will operate normally on Saturday. In-person service is provided by scheduling an appointment.

The administrative sectors, the Ombudsman's Office, outposts at police stations and regional centers will be closed on Friday.

Consumers can register complaints at any time via the website.

Banks

The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) informs that there will be no in-person service to the public at bank branches this Good Friday, which precedes Easter Sunday.

“The same goes for bank compensations, including TED. Only Pix, which operates 24 hours every day and on holidays, can be done normally”, states the institution.

The decision follows a resolution from the National Monetary Council that does not consider Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays as business days for the purposes of banking operations.

Utility bills and payment slips due on the 29th can be paid, without surcharge, on the following business day, Monday, April 1st.

Even with the closure of branches, banks' digital channels will remain available to customers. In some locations, self-service rooms will also operate, at the institution's discretion.

Blood donation

The Pró-Sangue Foundation's stock is in a very worrying situation. Currently, reserves are at 35% of their capacity. Click here to schedule your blood donation.

“For those who have a tight schedule, a good tip is to make your donation at Easter. The foundation will be attending this long weekend. However, not all collection points will be open, with some operating at different times,” he says.
