Holidays without clubbing this summer in Mallorca and Ibiza

Those who will be in Mallorca this summer, the Ίμπιζα and the rest of the Balearic Islands will not enjoy clubbing, says local government leader Franthina Armengol.

«Nightlife will follow later, probably not this summer. Only with a higher rate of vaccinations can we have nightlife again. “With any quick opening we will jeopardize the great sacrifices our citizens have made to fight the pandemic,” Armengol said in an interview published today in the Funke Journal.

Armengol also described the coronavirus pandemic as “opportunity to leave behind extreme tourism. The Balearic Islands have begun to develop quality tourism with greater respect for nature and the special features of their areas. The coronavirus showed us once again the need for responsible and dignified tourism. “This is our priority now and families and holidaymakers who are interested in sports, cultural and gastronomic tourism are welcome,” he stressed.

“The experiences with the opening to the German tourists from Easter were very positive. Among the 40,000 holidaymakers, the positivity rate was very low. The guests were able to move to a safe environment, in which the measures were much more relaxed than in Germany. Many Germans come to us with the feeling that they are finally coming out again and leaving the difficult period behind.

For several days now, in the Balearic Islands, the positivity index has been below 25. This means that we can guarantee safety for tourists and the local population. The accommodations are prepared with the appropriate security protocols “, he added.

Especially the Mallorca removed from the list of high-risk areas in Germany on 14 March. The Foreign Ministry’s travel directive was repealed because the number of new cases there dropped below 50 per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. This made the holidays there possible again and even without quarantine when tourists returned to Germany.

However, Armengol did not endanger the forecast for the course of tourism in the four Balearic Islands this year, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency: “It is very difficult to give an exact number. “Normally, the first tourist season started at such a time,” he said.

However, he estimates that “this summer season will be much better than last year. This will allow us to strengthen our economy again. In the Balearic Islands, which are highly dependent on tourism, the economy shrank during the pandemic coronavirus “More intensely than anywhere else in Spain,” said the head of the Balearic Islands’ local government.
