Hollywood actors have ratified the agreement that ends their strike

His actors Hollywood have ratified a deal with studios that ends a months-long strike that has rocked the film industry, their union said Tuesday.

The SAG-AFTRA union reported that 78% of its members voted in favor of this new multi-year contract. “This is a golden age for SAG-AFTRA, and our union has never been stronger,” SAG-AFTRA president Fran Dresser said in a statement.

The deal primarily provides the actors with more than $1 billion in damages and profitsas well as protection against the use of artificial intelligence by studios, the union said.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents Netflix, Walt Disney and other studios, welcomed the ratification of this convention.

“With this vote, the industry and its workers will be able to come back stronger,” AMPTP emphasizes in a statement.

The union says that 38% of its members voted.

The agreement between SAG-AFTRA and Hollywood studios to end a 118-day strike was reached last month, and actors had returned to work before it was ratified.
