Hollywood screenwriters, CEOs to resume strike talks this Thursday

The screenwriters and heads of the four major studios are expected to meet for the second day in a row this Thursday (21), as they try to reach an agreement that will put an end to the historic strike that has paralyzed Hollywood.

The CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav; Disney CEO Bob Iger; Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos; and NBCUniversal studio president Donna Langley resumed negotiations last Wednesday (20) with the Writers Guild of America. Following the meeting, both sides issued a rare joint statement.

“The WGA and AMPTP met to negotiate today and will meet again tomorrow,” they said.

Neither side said anything further. But the fact that the two sides – who have at times reprimanded each other for comments to the media – issued a joint statement signaled a possible sign of progress.

Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN .

Separately, a person familiar with the matter told CNN that the meetings left participants “feeling encouraged.”

The current impasse has lasted more than 140 days and is close to the longest writers’ strike on record, lasting 154 days in 1988.
