Homeless puppies seek shelter from the rain under a policeman’s umbrella

The streets of Calcutta, in India, have been under water on more than one occasion after the heavy rains that hit the city, but at the same time, they have given away beautiful and kind paintings, like the one that starred a traffic officer , an umbrella and two homeless puppies.

Police officer Tarun Kumar Mandal was monitoring traffic at a busy intersection when the rain brought the company of two stray dogs seeking shelter. The image was captured by a netizen, who shared it, making the fact viral.

Mandal was working controlling traffic at a seven-way junction when torrential rain hit. Traffic lights began to fail and people ran for shelter. He had to stay at his post to avoid any accidents and the only way he could protect himself from the weather was by using an umbrella.

In the distance, two little dogs looked at him and ran towards him with the intention of taking shelter under the same umbrella. Mandal noticed what they were doing and kindly shared his refuge with them.

A passerby who witnessed the events took a photo and shared it on social media with the intention of congratulating the officer. What I did not imagine was that the image went viral on the internet and received thousands of comments in support of that good man.

Although the whereabouts of the officer have not yet been found, Internet users hope that he has been recognized by his superiors and that he continues to help the alleyways in this way, because people like him give us back our faith in humanity.
