A man armed with a carbine opened fire at a shopping center in Greenwood, St Indiana of the US, killing three people and injuring two others. The attacker was shot dead by an armed citizen, as reported by the local police.
Police rushed to the mall around 6pm (local time) after reports of shots fired. “It appears that a good Samaritan who was armed caught sight of the attack while it was in progress and shot the gunman,” said Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison. In total, four people were killed and two others were injured, he added.
“We are disgusted by another incident of this kind in our country,” commented Chris Bailey, deputy chief of police in Indianapolis, according to the New York Times and as relayed by the Athens News Agency.
