About 40 passengers were burned alive when a bus overturned and caught fire in the western part of the People’s Republic of Congo today, it became known by an official.
The accident took place near the village of Kihua, six hours east of the capital Kinshasa, said Quilo provincial governor Willie Itshundala.
“Almost nothing can be recovered,” the governor told Reuters by telephone.
“Of the 31 survivors, nine have been seriously injured.”
Videos posted on social media show the heavy vehicle overturning, burning and fruit scattered on the road. Reuters has not verified this material.
