Police made the shocking discovery during a well-being check on an apartment complex on the outskirts of the city at 3535 Green Crest, KTRK reported, citing County Sheriff Harris Ed Gonzalez.
The abandoned children are aged 15, 10 and 7, while researchers believe that the older child took care of the other two, the report said.
The remains are believed to belong to someone else minor – probably brother of three, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office says he received a call from a 15-year-old who claimed his 9-year-old brother had been dead for a year in the apartment he shared with his other siblings.
The teenager also said that his parents did not live in the apartment with him and his two brothers. When the authorities arrived, they found remains skeletal.
The children showed signs of malnutrition and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Late Sunday night, the sheriff’s office announced that the children’s mother and her boyfriend had been found and were being questioned.
During the briefing, Gonzalez described the situation as “horrible” after seeing how the children, aged 15, 10 and 7, lived.
“I have been in this job for a long time and I have never seen anything like it,” he said.
The eldest child seemed to be the guardian of the other children for a long time.
The remains of the 9-year-old were allegedly found outside the apartment in a place in public view and not covered.
