An animal abuse investigation said today that Spanish police began after discovering 32 dogs dying of hunger and thirst on a farm in centralized Spain. Dogs had been abandoned without food and water since June on the farm in the province of Badahot, Civil Protection said. Some were left free to roam, others were chained or locked in cages. “In some cases, the dogs tried to feed on the remains of those who had already died,” the police added, who made the horrible discovery last week after reporting that the dogs had been abandoned and were in poor condition. Officers discovered the animals’ dwarfs, “at various stages of decomposition”, scattered throughout the farm. Civil protection began investigating the owner of the farm for abandonment that led to dog death. Spain has adopted a new law on animal living in 2023 that increases the penalties for abuse and abandonment. Source: RES
